Mutilazioni

Six Feet Under
We said that Manfred Alexander had had "a spell in prison in Switzerland and a period of interment" when we meant internment ('An act of true friendship, G2 page 2, March 29). Interment is burial, internment is detention.

No such thing as a bicep
"The singular of biceps is biceps. There is no such thing as a bicep (Wilkinson reels as fresh injury hits Lions hopes, Sport, page 20, March 14)".
The Guardian, sezione "Corrections".

"The caption on Feb. 14 for a picture by Reuters with the continuation of an article about the Iraqi elections misstated the reason Abdul Aziz al-Hakim, a Shiite cleric, was weeping. He was participating in a mourning ritual as part of Ashura, a holy Shiite festival - not reacting to results showing that his political alliance had won a slim majority of seats. A second caption for a Reuters photo misstated the reason a Shiite was shown flagellating himself in a Baghdad procession. He was taking part in the same mourning ritual, not celebrating the election outcome".

"In our G2 cover story about Hunter S Thompson yesterday we mistakenly attributed to Richard Nixon the view that Thompson represented "that dark, venal and incurably violent side of the American character". On the contrary, it was what Thompson said of Nixon".

In the lead report in our International section, Survivors and leaders travel to Auschwitz, page 13, yesterday, an editing slip made Elie Wiesel, the Nobel laureate, female. It was corrected yesterday on the Guardian website.
In the Auschwitz report, page 13, yesterday, we referred to "all three living former US presidents, Bill Clinton, George Bush senior, and Jimmy Carter". President Gerald Ford is also living.

"A typographical error in Heston Blumenthal's recipe for caramel sauce, page 58, Weekend, January 1, reduced the amount of milk to 37ml. It should have been 375ml.
The Guardian, sezione "Corrections".

"We inadvertently stated that Tannenbaum is the tune of the Internationale (Ring it up, Life, Online, page 18, yesterday). It is the traditional German tune mostly associ ated with the socialist song The Red Flag (as well as the carol, O Christmas Tree, and the state songs of Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, and New Jersey). The tune of the Internationale was composed by Pierre Degaytre in 1888".
